Here is something I really don’t like. So many times, this is what happens: Someone will buy a living room set – a sofa, love seat and chair that are exactly the same. There will then be two side tables and a coffee table that are exactly the same. Then, two lamps will appear that are – you guessed it – exactly the same.
The thing is, this is very safe. But not very interesting.
They say that variety is the spice of life. In that case, it’s time to add some variety to your home!
Things do not have to match. It’s much better that they don’t, actually. Things should, however “GO” together. If you have different items in the same style, concept, period or idea, this is much more the direction of a more interesting room. The goal is to create a cohesive whole using different pieces.
It’s great when the eye moves around the room and discovers new things instead of just seeing the same thing over and over again.
Now, having a pair of chairs or lamps is one thing, and a pattern using the same picture frame is fine. That’s not what I’m saying. The point is that all furniture doesn’t have to be the same. What you see in a showroom is designed so that you buy multiple pieces, but you certainly don’t have to! Having pizza every night would get tiresome after a while, and having so much of the same thing would be tiring your eyes in the same way.
Instead of pizza, try a buffet. I think you’ll find it has a lot more to offer!
