Born, raised, and educated in New York City, Joe Cangelosi is an Interior Designer whose main business principles are to first take the time to listen to his Clients’ unique preferences, needs and lifestyle, and then help define and achieve the best possible Design for their homes and workplaces. Each project is performed with individualized care and attention to detail based on the collaboration of the Client and Designer, and upon completion, the space will have been transformed into one that is beautiful, functions well, and can be enjoyed for years to come.
It was at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts that Joe received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, and his further education was acquired at FIT where he was awarded a Summa Cum Laude Degree in Interior Design. He was one of the select students chosen for induction into the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. During this time, Joe honed his unparalleled sense of style, meticulousness in space planning, ability to incorporate humor and fun into his Designs, as well as proficiency in marathon shopping at the best furniture, fabric, antique – and even thrift stores – in New York.
Joe graduating, Joe has Designed and Decorated homes and commercial spaces in Greenwich Village, Chelsea, the Upper East and Upper West Sides, Wall Street, Harlem, Inwood, Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Park Slope as well as Long Island’s North Shore. He has also worked on several projects for the Media which were featured in The New York Times, Good Housekeeping/Your Good House Magazine, O – The Oprah Magazine, Time Out New York, Hamptons Cottages and Gardens, Design and Architecture Daily, Interior Design Forum, Interior Design Social Diary, House Talk Daily, Design Life, CBS-2 News This Morning, ABC-7’s Taxi-TV, HGTV and several prominent Show Houses in New York.
Joe is a Certified Horticulturist, and has studied Urban Garden Design at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, of which he has been a member for many years. He is also a member of the New York Landmarks Conservancy and a proud sponsor of Habitat for Humanity New York City. His interests include photography, cooking, entertaining, traveling, and the history of New York. He is a Virgo.
